PATIENT BACKGROUND: This determined 40-year-old female lost 75 pounds following a vertical sleeve gastrectomy. With that much weight loss, even with diet and exercise, she had been unable to get rid of the loose skin of the mid and the lower abdomen. She is 5’ 3’, currently has no children and recently went down from 250lbs to 175lbs. As many women do, she longed for a flat tummy, especially after all the hard work she put into losing the weight. So, she contacted Dr. Mariotti, who specializes in body contouring, after reading excellent reviews on both google and yelp.
DR. MARIOTTI’S IMPRESSION: “During the consult, I determined that this hardworking young women is a perfect candidate for a tummy tuck, also known as an abdominoplasty. This would allow me to remove all the skin between the pubic hairline and the belly button. I will also tighten the abdominal muscles, which have been stretched due to age and weight loss and pull the upper abdominal skin down tight while positioning the incision down low so that it is easily hidden under a bathing suit or underwear. This will give her the nice, flat tummy she deserves.”
PROCEDURE:
FOLLOW UP/OUTCOME: After only 5 days later during a post-surgery followup her bandages were removed and according to Dr. Marotti “she couldn’t have looked any better.” Fast forward a mere 8 weeks and the incisions have healed completely and her belly button also looks fantastic. This determined young lady was extremely pleased with her early results and has even resumed her walking program. One year on and she has lost another 10 pounds. Nothing is going to stop her now!
