What Causes Lumps after Liposuction?

The good news is that in the vast majority of these cases, a lumpy or uneven appearance after liposuction will resolve over time as your body heals and recovers.

How to Smooth Liposuction Lumps

Liposuction lumps often resolve on their own without any intervention. However, there are a few things you can do to minimize their appearance and help them smooth away more quickly.

Wear a compression garment. Dr. Mariotti will ask that you wear a compression garment as you heal from liposuction. This helps to reduce swelling and therefore reduce post-liposuction lumps, as well as help your body to heal more efficiently.

Try massage. In some cases, lymphatic drainage massage techniques may help to smooth away lumps after liposuction. Discuss the proper massage techniques with Dr. Mariotti, however, before trying this yourself.

Give it time. It can take several weeks or months for residual swelling to diminish and your smooth, lump-free results to develop. Give your body the time it needs to recover after liposuction before assessing your results.
